Tethered to a leash and looking scared as the winds billowed, a lone dog was almost a victim of Hurricane Harvey. As the rain poured, the poor dog was confined by rising levels of water with nowhere to turn to. Everyone around the area seemed to have left in a hurry and somehow forgot this dog behind. Abandoned, terribly soaked and tethered, the dog sat there with no hope in sight.
Fortunately, photographer, Ruaridh Connellan, came along. He spotted the dog and hurried across the field to help the dog. As he unleashed the dog, it scurried off to safer ground wagging its tail happily.
Unable to stop thinking about the dog and how it was doing, the photographer set his mind to check on it the next day. When Connellan visited the area the following day, the dog ran to him and wanted to play. Saved and grateful, this fortunate dog had just formed an unbreakable bond. The dog was named Lucky because it truly was.
Lucky and other pets like how were frightened after being abandoned during the hurricane, but they are doing well now. It is disappointing that people still abandon their pets but this dog will definitely find a home if his owners are not found. Connellan is already in line and happy to take lucky in.
