No matter how hard we try to deny it verbally, deep in our hearts we all know that the type of world we live in is an unforgiving one. It is a world, where everyone is engaged in their very own race to the top, with no regard to consequences on the toll such struggles take on their relationship with people around them.
Amidst such chaos and whirlwind of a life, the story of this 75-year old man is nothing short of a breath of fresh air. Sharing his story to “Humans of Bombay” on Facebook, the man did not give a name but did give a lesson that people in this time and age can truly appreciate.
Based in Mumbai, India, this 75-year old was formerly an Electrical Engineer at Tata Institute, who himself claims that he has lived a really happy, albeit a very busy life. Since one of his sons, he says, is living in the UK with his family, he and his wife travel out of the country frequently. But since the shackles of a 9 to 5 job no longer hold them down, this gives them plenty of time to browse a number of hobbies and activities. He loved to read and has even dabbled in photography, something he has wanted to do for a very long time. This, eventually, lead him and his wife to learn a new language for fun, having them sign up for Arabic classes online.
In their own words, the couple claims that they loved the class so much that they finally decided to enroll at a local language institute, together. On their first day, much to their amusement, their fellow classmates thought that he actually was the teacher than a student like them. He says that he is by far the oldest person in the class, but he couldn’t be happier.
He and his wife, in his opinion and ours, have excelled in this little thing we call life and couldn’t be any happier about it. They are young at heart and spirit and leading a life most of us can only dream of.
